A small Land Rover is also coming next year

After introducing the new Defender to the public earlier this year, Land Rover plans to expand its range with a far more affordable model. That should be a baby SUV with a price tag of around £ 25,000 for the base version.

A new D10 platform would be used for the baby SUV, with the entire project reportedly code L860.

The look will be inspired by the new Defender, but the L860 will of course offer more modest equipment and a less spacious cabin compared to the Defender. This small Land Rover could go on sale during the third quarter of 2021, in the 5-door version.

The car will most likely be available as standard with a 4x2 powertrain and a 1.5 liter three-cylinder engine (in turbo and mild-hybrid versions) and could be produced outside the UK at a new factory in Slovakia.

Powerful variants are also expected with four-cylinder engines and 4x4 drives, and plug-in hybrid drives are also possible.
