Destiny offers players more than enough opportunities to
shoot ‘em up, but it will soon be gaining another feature that should
spice things up a bit. At the PlayStation Experience this weekend,
Bungie announced the Sparrow Racing League, which allows Destiny: The Taken King
owners to take part in Sparrow hovercraft races, may they be against
friends or other players from around the world. In other words, those
small crafts present since the game’s debut will be more than just mere
means of transportation, but rather neat little racing machines.
Bungie whetted gamers’ appetites at the PS Experience expo with a quick teaser trailer, but according to a report from Forbes,
some player vs player races should be in order, with some AI foes
taking part as well. PS4 players, in particular, will get elite Sparrows
and equipment, and a good chance of more Sparrow customization options.
With Destiny often in need of some serious spicing up, the
launch of a racing league should definitely help to that end, and give
gamers much more to do than what is normally available.
There is, however, one important catch to keep in mind. The Sparrow
Racing League, according to Bungie, will only be available for a limited
three-week period beginning tomorrow. And it will only be available to
those who own The Taken King, so you’ll need to upgrade to that
and not the “classic” version. Hopefully Bungie would make this feature
more permanent, as it certainly holds a lot of promise for old and new Destiny players alike.
